Summer In Val d'Isere

Summer is a wonderful time to be in Val d’Isere, the days are usually warm and sunny, and the nights cooler and comfortable. The scenery is spectacular, and there’s such a wide variety of activities available that there’s sure to be something to keep everyone happy.  Just a few of the most popular options are mountain-biking, road-cycling, hiking, climbing, swimming, rafting, exploring the local villages and wine-fairs, or just lying back and relaxing in the sunshine.

Mountain Biking

Val d’Isere is an amazing place for mountain biking, with varying terrain to suit bikers of all levels, and the views are fantastic. Whether you prefer a leisurely cycle around some of the lower level trails, or if hardcore down-hilling is more your style, Val d’Isere offers it all.

Cycling

If you’re more of a road-cyclist, Val d’Isere offers challenging mountain roads to cycle while enjoying the stunning scenery. Don’t forget though that the roads around Val d’Isere are the setting for some of the most gruelling sections of the Tour de France! You don’t need to be a professional cyclist, but the ability to ride comfortably for several hours in the UK should see you enjoy the mountain routes.

Walking & Hiking

Val d’Isere is a great base for walking and hiking in the Alpine mountains in the summer. There are a number of routes ranging in difficulty from easy child-friendly walks to enjoy with the whole family, to challenging day-long hikes for the more adventurous. Along the way you can enjoy the beautiful scenery and wildlife that you don’t get to see in the winter months

Climbing

Val d’Isere has great options for rock climbing for both beginners and more experienced climbers. Experienced climbers (with all the correct safety equipment) can find amazing climbs where you can challenge yourself and enjoy the amazing views. For beginners you will find a number of companies who can take you out on your first climb where you will learn all the technique and skills in the safe hands of a well-trained mountain guide.

Watersports

White water rafting is a definite ‘must try’ on your list of summer activities in the Alps. From the middle of May until September, the mountain rivers flow furiously as they are fed from the melt waters running off the glaciers high above the town. There are a number of trained guides in resort who will let you experience some of the best white water rafting available in the Alps. There are various options available from a three hour adrenaline rush to a full days excursion, guaranteed fun!

Spa & Massages

If it is calm and relaxation you are after then head to a luxury day spa or book in for massage therapies and beauty treatments. A day spa is also the perfect activity when the weather turns. You can keep warm and revive aching muscles in saunas, steam rooms and jacuzzis or take a refreshing dip in a swimming pool. Unwind, relax and indulge.
