La Cucucina – new restaurant at the Folie Douce opening in December

What: La Cucucina restaurant

Why: Italian cuisine with fabulous views

Where: La Folie Douce, Val d’Isere

When: 12:30 to 3:30pm throughout the winter season

In December, La Folie Douce, Val d’Isère will open a brand-new restaurant, La Cucùcina. A quite unique place that aims to combine great food with stunning design. The décor is inspired by the artist studios of the Italian Renaissance and pays particular homage to the genius Leonardo da Vinci, and due to its size and impressive height it’s quite a surrealist setting.

Set in the centre of the restaurant is a huge table, comprised of solid wood which serves as a stage for their artists. A curved staircase leads up to the mezzanine overlooking the restaurant’s main hall. One of the highlights of this new restaurant is the breath-taking view of Mont Blanc which guests can admire through the huge windows.

The team behind the scenes is 100% Italian, and offers a wide range of transalpine cuisine, both modern and authentic. With a commitment to offering only the best, the chef and his team cook dishes made from local French and Italian products (the border is 30 km bird’s flight away) coming directly from renowned producers.

We’re looking forward to trying it out this winter and will give a full report of our experience!
