Immersive tourism experiences in Val d’Isere

This winter Val d’Isere is offering a variety of experiences that will give you a different perspective on the life of this constantly evolving mountain village.
Heritage
From the old wood and stone village set around the belltower to the listed resort of La Daille, Val d’Isère’s architectural heritage tells the story of the last few centuries. To get visitors involved and show them a different side to their holiday destination, Val d’Isère and the FACIM have teamed up to offer weekly guided tours. Take a step back in time with “Once upon a time in Val d’Isère” and see how the village evolved into a skiing hotspot. The FACIM also shows families around the Adroit farm to learn about how the Mattis family makes their cheese. Visitors can even watch the cows being milked in the morning and evening. To learn more about the resort, head to the Val d’Isère museum in the Maison de Val d’Isere.
You can sign up for the guided tours at the Tourist Office.
Mountain professions: Valkids workshops
At the top of the Solaise, in the Val Kids area, these free workshops invite children under 8 to learn all about the thrilling jobs they could do on the ski area. Snow-makers, slope groomers, avalanche dog trainers and other mountain professionals demonstrate some of their daily tasks and chat with the young participants over an afternoon snack.
Free activity, open to everyone.
Behind the scenes of the ski area
Val d’Isère lift company takes visitors on a tour of the Olympique gondola’s machine room.
Free of charge, sign up at the Tourist Office, limited places available.
Local wildlife
Come and meet wardens from the Vanoise National Park on various occasions throughout the winter, on the path that runs from Le Fornet to Pont Saint Charles. The wardens chat with locals and visitors and show them the local wildlife. It is an opportunity to see ibex, bearded vultures, chamois and eagles, and discover hidden species such as black grouse and ptarmigan.
Free of charge, no sign-up required, every Thursday during the February and Easter holidays.
