When not skiing

The idyllic scenery of Val d’Isere teamed with the picturesque village makes Val disere ski resort a hotspot for holidays. When you aren’t up the mountain skiing there are shops a plenty to buy everything you need from quaint souvenirs to the latest ski gear. Val d’Isere is also famous for its variety of restaurants, especially those nestled between pistes all over the Espace Killy.

Most of these open at around noon for lunch time service and some, including the infamous Follie Douce, will stay open almost until the pistes close.

There isn’t exactly a lack of places to eat and drink down in the village either; with numerous wonderful local French cuisine restaurants and a choice of different food styles from American style burgers at the Quiksilver café to Thai noodles at the 4 Seasons.

But what if you aren’t a skier? As famous as Val disere is for its snowsports, there are also plenty of other activities available for the non skier. Val disere resort boasts a brand new sports centre, Oxygen, built in 2009 which is a haven for those that want a break from the snowy mountains.

Oxygen is over 5000M and includes 2 large pools, 3 saunas, a steam room, Jacuzzi, gym and various sporting rooms (squash, climbing etc). If you want to pamper yourself even further there are many companies in Val disere that offer private massages.

See the links page for details of these. Val disere resort also has a cinema on the high street, an ice rink where various snow fun activities take place and a real working dairy farm.
