Skiing Val d’Isere
Thousands of people come to ski val d isere every year and enjoy over 300km sq of amazing pistes, groomed and maintained to an incredibly high standard. There are over 100 lifts here, the vast majority being ultra modern; making Val d’Isère’s lift system one of the best in Europe.
Lifts are constantly being improved and their speed, comfort and quality make skiing val d isere an even more amazing experience. Skiing from 1550m to 3456m it is one of the highest resorts in the French Alps and boasts excellent snow conditions all through the winter.
Val disere makes up half of the surrounding ski area, The Espace Killy. As lift passes are available that enable access to the whole of the Espace, snow lovers can enjoy the neighbouring resort of Tignes as well as the areas in Val d’Isere (Fornet, La Daille, Solaise and Bellvarde).
For those that like more than just pistes there are 44km of cross country available, 2 snowparks for all you jibbers and acres of varied off piste just sitting there ready for powder lovers to make some fresh tracks in! Many of our recommended ski schools provide lessons specifically for those that want to progress in the parks and it is always advisable to have a guide take you through the non- pisted areas of the mountains.
We recommend TDC for lessons who have a unique way of teaching that enables you to progress with your skiing whatever level you are. Please see below for contact details or contact us direct with your requirements (email@example.com).
There are over 150 pistes in the Espace Killy; and whether you have skied all your life or are just beginning val disere skiing has something to suit you! With 22 green, 61 blue, 46 red and 25 black pistes an amazing time can be had by all, with competent skiers being challenged by a particularly steep black and total novices progressing from a wide green to a smooth sweeping blue or red.
As well as excellent snow conditions and pistes; to ski val disere you also need good equipment! There are several rental shops in Val d’Isere which you can hire all your kit from. The type of skis/snowboard that you get is important- your holiday can be even better than expected if you get fixed up with the perfect gear to suit your style and requirements.
We recommend Snowberry in terms of val disere ski hire, please contact us (firstname.lastname@example.org) and we can help you book your equipment before you arrive in Val d’Isere, or alternatively you can contact them direct.
We use a ski shop called Snowberry, one of the leading shops in resort and the only shop to be wholly a rental shop. This means they specialise and concentrate on equipment hire only, which means they are fully focused on providing you with the best quality equipment to suit your needs.
Snowberry offers you a 25 - 50% discount so they are very competitive on price. Be careful when shopping around on price as some shops offer very cheap deals but I have had very bad feedback about equipment and service.
The website and email address for bookings are below. Please quote my partner code VIL11 at the time of booking or put valdiserelocation in as the tour operator, this helps if they need to contact you or me and for picking you up in resort:
They also have a dedicated service in resort where they will pick you up from your chalet and drop you off when you have your equipment. For this taxi, service just call +33 616 28 50 08 when you arrive in resort to arrange or we can organise this for you.
Private Instructor/Ski School
We have worked with a number of instructors that we know are very good. Please send us details of your requirements and we will let you know the best instructor to suit your needs.
There are a wide choice of ski schools in Val d’Isere, but having worked with many we have found the following ski school to be the best to work with:
TDC - the development centre
A British ski school that really makes a difference - the development centre, skiing that works
- Coaching clinics - small group lessons of likeminded people who what to improve their skiing.
- Private development - make the breakthrough with your own coach in a private lesson.
- Off-piste - learn to ski powder in either a group clinic or private lesson format.
It is tdc's coaches that set us apart. All our coaches are fully qualified BASI ski instructors with full French equivalence.
We are native English speakers, which helps people to really understand the message and make lasting steps towards real learning. Go beyond regular ski lessons and traditional ski school - come and get some coaching with tdc.
